Double Decker Tour Bus by Cruefan The first day I was in Dublin my wife and I took a sight-seeing tour from Dublin Bus. I always try to do this if I'm visiting a city for the first time because it helps you get your bearings of the city. The tour was 12.50 Euro each and it takes you to all the popular Dublin attractions. It's a hop on hop off tour and your ticket is good a full 24-hours from purchase. You can buy your tickets from the main office of Dublin Bus on O'Connell Str (just look for the tour buses) of at any stop along the way. The only downside is that traffic in Dublin is terrible and the tour has it's slow times. by Aliseeya The literary pub crawl leaves out of the Duke pub every night at 7:30pm and lasts about 2 hrs. It is led by two actors, who act out passages and plays written by Ireland's finest! The actors were very talented and hilarious. They kept us entertained the entire time, and it was one of the best things we did in Dublin. Along the crawl we went to four pubs: O'Neils, Old Stand, The Duke, and one more that I can't remember! Even if you know nothing about Irish literature (which I didn't), you'll still have a fantastic time. Leave a Comment

Liffey Boardwalk by caoimhin A 1 hour 15 minutes fully Guided Tour. There are 19 stops each located at the more popular attractions, where you can hop off visit an attraction and hop on the next bus (every 15 minutes). It covers not only the usual tourist attractions but also the Guiness Store House and Jamesons Distillery. By the end of the tour you are usually life-long friends with everyone on the bus, including the driver. It also shows you parts of the city you would never normally get to see. Leave a Comment

I really only did one 'sightseeing' thing when I was in Dublin and that was going on a bus tour. Due to not having a lot of time in the city (and spending my nights at clubs or down in Co. Wexford) I didn't go into any of the museums or galleries - at least that gives me plenty to do on my next trip! Anyway I took a City Sightseeing Dublin bus from Upper O'Connell St and took the route that goes all over the city (the red route, the other route is yellow). I think the best thing about this sightseeing tour was the driver - Pat. He was a great guy, perfect as a commentator, and guided us around his city. His running commentary on the city was informative, funny and honest. He was definitely a 'tell it like it is' man. But even if you don't get Pat as your driver, I think the recorded commentary would still be just as informative. The tour goes over the north and south parts of the city and even out and into Phoenix Park. It is a hop-on hop-off tour, and will stop at places like: Guinness Storehouse, National Museum, Old Jameson Distillery, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Trinity College, Temple Bar, St. Stephen's Green and many other places. Tours are in: English, Spanish, French, German, Japanese, Italian and Russian. They run (on average) every 15 minutes. Tickets (valid on both routes) Adult: EUR 14 Concession (Student): EUR 12 Child (5-15 yrs old): EUR 5 With your ticket you can also get discounts on museums, galleries, distilleries and Supermacs (see website below for more details). by Aliseeya This walking tour starts at Trinity College, and lasts around 2 hrs. Our guide was very eccentric, which kept us quite entertained. The tour went around Dublin, and its stops included Trinity College, Dublin Castle, City Hall, Temple Bar, and a couple other historically significant spots. Our guide was very informative, and gave us a great history lesson on Ireland. I would highly recommend this tour; it was a lot of fun, and gave me a great backround on Dublin. Leave a Comment

We honestly didnýt have any clue as to which tour we should go on, and in the end it didnýt matter because this one was the only one that had room for us. We had a blast, even though it was a large group. The first place we visited was the Hill of Tara, where one can supposedly see six different counties in Ireland at once. We had remarkable weather and the Hill was very beautiful. Then we visited Trim Castle, the site of the ýBraveheartý movie, and Newgrange. Newgrange was awesome. Itýs this really old (as in 5,000 years old which makes it older than Stonehenge) tomb thatýs on par with the pyramids age-wise and historically. And we got to go inside! We also visited the new Brý na Boinne Visitor Centre. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and cheerful and gave us a lot of little trivial information along the way. Brilliant way to experience traditional Irish music, learn a bit about it, have a laugh, and enjoy a few pints all at the same time!! 2 Irish musicians take you to a few pubs (special reserved area in the pub), and then tell you all about Irish music, play you many different tunes and songs, teach you a bit about the instruments - all with a bit of comedy too!! My stomach hurt by the end of the evening!! The whole thing lasts about 2 and 1/2 hours and costs about 12euro's - well worth it!!

The beach in Bray by Renescheffer 20 km south of Dublin. Take a DART train an travel in 30 minutes to Bray. The day we wanted this, there were no trains because railroadworks, so we had to go with the bus. It was a great trip for only 1,75 euro one way. With line 45 you pass the Merrion park and the Landsdowne Road stadium in Ballsbridge; nice views over the Dublin bay and little villages and the Wicklow mountains. The train runs along the seashore. A combination bus/train is the best option (inland/seashore). Bray itself is nice for having a lunch at one of the outdoor restaurants (wooden tables like in a beer hall in Germany) and for smelling the see. Leave a Comment Directions: 20 km south of Dublin.
