by Taistealai Take a walking tour originating from Trinity College These tours are often given by history students and have a very unique perspective. Mine took in sites such as the college, the Bank of Ireland, Christchurch Cathedral, and Dublin Castle (pictured here). My guide said that the 4 primary styles of architecture could be seen in Dublin Castle -- Norman (the round tower), Gothic, Georgian, and 1970s ugly (unfortunately not captured in my photo). Dublin Castle is the focal point of the government -- by the British until 1922 when it was taken over by the Irish. In addition to government functions, there are a couple of museums/galleries now located in the Castle.

by Sakuzan I visited Trinity College. This college building is very sophisticated and worth to see. There are many excellent students from all around the world. I saw some students played rugby football on the pitch.

by Michael_D The book of Kells is kept in Trinity College library and is the hand written, illustrated copy of the gospells created by Irish monks in the early 9th century at the monestary of Kells. It is exquistly ornate and stands as the most important historical book in all of Ireland. Leave a Comment

by eden_teuling TRINITY COLLEGE is a REAL MUSTMUSTMUST!!! You will have to queue but it is so very worth while!!! Trinity College is the oldest University in the country and was founded in 1592 by queen Elizabeth I of England. Up until then the Protestants Anglo-Irish ruling class had been sending their sons to the Continent to be educated where they ran the risk of becoming 'infected with Popery'. The College sits at the heart of Dublin...... in TRINITY College Library Dublin you will find THE LONG ROOM, which was designed by Thomas Burgh and completed in 1732. It houses 200.000 of the Library's oldes books and muniscripts including the famous, world famous BOOK OF KELLS. Leave a Comment Other Contact: SEE MY SPECIAL TRAVELOGUE.......

by evilboomer Trinity College, Guinness Brewery or Hopstore, The Trinity College is the oldest (I think) college in Ireland and very famous. Everyone who thinks is good enough wants to study there. Very nice and old architecture and it has some old religious books in a bookstore and library. In the Guinness Brewery you can see how Guinness is made. In the museum you can see the history of the making of Guinness. After the museum you can drink 2 half pints or a pint of Guinness in the Sample Bar. Leave a Comment Directions: In the middle of Dublin. Guinnes Brewery is a bit outside of DublinOther Contact: Guinnes

At Trinity College there is a museum holding the Book of Kells - an ancient version of the Bible. A must-see for anyone visiting Dublin. Plan to spend at least 2 hours there if you want to see most of the panels. Leave a Comment
