  • Public Toilets

At public toilets where there is just the Irish names for men and women don't get mixed up. Mna, even though it starts with an M is Female, Fir, even though it starts with an F is Male. That's a bad tourist trap I think!!!

    Don't mix them up!

I really tried very hard to think of one thing to discourage you from doing but nothing came up. I'm not trying to kid you when I say that Dublin is a lovely city with lots of friendly folks. The only 'vice' I can think of is that these folks love to drink and pub-hop. :-) And fleecing a tourist (horror of horrors!) is simply unthinkable. That's how nice the Irish people are.

I wouldn't say sucked in cause we went on it for a joke. But the Ghost Tour of Dublin claiming to be the only one in the world, which I suppose considering there aren't too many other Dublins they were correct. Anyways, we drove around in a darkened velvet lined bus visiting grave sites and spots of sightings as a guy tried his dambdest to scare us with ghost stories. A good craic though I'd prefer not to pay (Ha - actually I didn't - gotta love the Irish).
    AND, I got the T-Shirt.

    Ghost Bus Tour

by mcuriel Written Jan 24, 2010

Although the tour was a little entertaining, it was more silly than scary and not worth the money in my opinion.

Fun Alternatives: I wish I would have taken one of the tours out to the countryside instead.

  • Dodgy Areas

Be careful! There are some dodgy areas in Dublin. Someone robbed my friend's backpack in Talbot Street north of the Liffey back in 1990 which made us go home a week early :(

O'Connell Street - loads of tacky shops and fast food places. You better go shopping somewhere else.
