If you are going to walk round Howth Head you should take the signs saying “Warning Dangerous Cliffs” seriously. The Lower Cliff Walk goes very close to the edge sometimes and it can be slippery after rain. Because of rain and very strong wind (I had almost been blown off the pier) I chose not to walk the narrow path when I visited.
Howth is noticeably more windy than Dublin, so come prepared with a coat and be careful if you're close to a cliff's edge. Peter and I were going to walk along the narrow path along Howth Head, but decided against it as we were getting blown around quite a bit up there.
Peter told me that every year someone commits suicide by driving or jumping from these cliffs.
Be careful when you climb Howth Head and take the cliff-path down, dont stay too close to the edge as it's very windy up there and you dont want to fall, do you? :)
