You may get to Malahide by bus no 42. It takes about half an hour to get there and you will probably go by double decker bus.:)

DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transport) is the train going through Dublin to the villages and towns (suburbs) north and south of Dublin. It is very convenient to use if your doing a daytrip to visit the places along the coast.
Tickets can be bought from machines or the booking-office . At Connolly Station the line for buying the ticket was very long early in the morning, but it was also very quick.
I went to Malahide and Howth on the same day. I was told to get a day ticket for 7.20 Euro. I wanted to ask if it wasn’t cheaper to buy single tickets, but the clerk interrupted and said it was better for me to have a day ticket as I was going to hop on and off trains during the day. Well, looking at the website I can see it would have been cheaper to buy single tickets: Dublin - Malahide 2 Euro, Malahide - Howth 2 Euro and Howth - Dublin 2 Euro.
The trains to Malahide or Howth takes about 30 minutes and are running every 20 - 30 minutes.
Going from Malahide to Howth you take the DART back to Howth Junction and change there.

The best way to get to Malahide from Dublin area is the Dart, the jurney will include a beautfull ride on the seacoast and a drop off at the heart of Malahide! Just beside the Malahide castle grounds.
It is a fast, pleasurable and unexpensive way to get to this pictoresque town.

There is a direct bus to Malahide from Dublin airport as well as Dublin city centre. When in Dublin you need to take a bus from the Busaras. Bus stops in Malahide are easily accessible and well marked all around the place so no problem there.

The Dart is the quickest way of getting to Malahide and it has the advantage of beautiful sceneries along the way. The dart drops you of right in the centre of the vilage just a short walk from the castle grounds.

To get To and From Dublin there is an excellent train service known as the Green Line (DART).
Malahide is 10 stations from Connolly the main Dublin station.
Trains run frequently throughout the day Monday to Friday, about every 5 to 10 minutes at peak times and every 15 minutes off-peak. Saturday every 15/20 minutes and Sunday every 20/30 minutes.
We had a hire car and did not need the train service.

Malahide is very easy to get to by public transport from Dublin City with regular Railcar, bus and DART services. The DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transit) is an electrified train service which runs through the city centre between Greystones, south of the city, and Malahide and Howth, to the north.
DART trains to Malahide run roughly every 30 minutes from the city with a journey time of about 20 minutes, the fare (at the time of writing) is 2.30 Euros one-way.
Malahide train station is pretty much in the town centre - turn left when you reach the main road.
