Gissus a Guinness by sourbugger The craze for "Fat frogs" appears to have hit it's peak around Christmas 2003. This simple-to-make cocktail has a particular potency as it mixes together several differnent "Alcopops". The usual mixture is a bottle each of Smirnoff Ice, WKD (blue) and Barcardi Breezer (orange). It turns the whole sickly mixture green. Many of the pubs serving a younger type of drinker have home-made signs up saying they sell it, despite various calls in parliment to stop pubs serving it. I'll think I will stick to the tried and tested black stuff. Leave a Comment Theme: Eating and Drinking

by sourbugger This is a big place with six different bar areas. The Whole place was re-fitted a couple of years back and is now a multi-leveled fun palace. You get the very crowded areas and quiter corners too. The Guiness is fine and they do coffee's and food as well. What makes the place is the mix of people - all ages and styles, locals and tourists.

I didn't go here at nite, but I imagine it would have been a good time if I had. I ended up there for lunch one day to watch a premiership game. The food was decent, but the setting is better. It's wood throughout, and it's got the warm cozy feel. It's on the main pedestrian strip. It's bound to be filled with tourists, but it seems like are fair number of locals were there as well. Quite large with an upstairs bar too. Leave a Comment Theme: Eating and DrinkingDirections: Main pedestrian thruway.

The Quays by sabsi The Keys is one of the biggest and most popular pubs of Galway. I've never seen it empty actually, it's always packed with tourists and locals. The interieur is rather special here - the whole place looks like a church rather than a pub. Great!
None that I know of. At the side door there aren't even bouncers sometimes (On Saturdays there are though but still there doesn't seem to be a dress code. Leave a Comment Theme: Eating and DrinkingAddress: Quay Street

by lina112 Last night in Galway and next day back to Spain, i spent the evening with my friend and more peple in this bar. There was live music and you can ask for the singer a sing to dedicate. Is a great place to spend a good time. Leave a Comment

by thunderbox According to the guidebooks the area of Dominic Street is where the locals hang andQuay Street is where the tourists go. Kinda sorta true. You should try the pubs on both sides of the river. Here are some to try: Roisin Dubh King's Head The Quays The Front Door McSwiggans

The nightlife in Galway is excellent. It's much better than Cork and not as expensive as Dublin. Most people love to go out in Galway. Leave a Comment Theme: Other

The door staff are rude and not at all helpful. The decor put me off as well, other people told us to avoid this place,I wish I had listened!

I spent a week in Galway while doing a study abroad in Finland ( fall 2007). I met some cool people and we went to all the pubs ( not nightclubs) and tasted the Guinness at all. We all agreed that the King's Head had the best. The traditional music at all the pubs was definitely the best part. Leave a Comment Theme: Eating and Drinking
