Pacino's Bar: Reasonably priced Guinness!

by chrissyalex

This nice bar and restaurant named after Al Pacino has a sign out front advertising that it sells "Guinness at student prices". This seemed true because the Guinness was almost a euro cheaper than other places. They also offer live entertainment, mostly rock music. casual

CPs: party, party, party

by Marpessa

CPs is a pretty cool nightclub, went there both nights I was in Galway - it was packed both nights! They've couch/seated areas, 2 bars, on different levels, a decent sized dance floor and a very good mix of music (they played The Rasmus both nights - so that was me happy). It's just a fun place to be!And against someones comment before (who called me a drunken twit) - I have only been here twice - and it was in 2004. I had fun and enjoyed it with my friends, laughing and dancing and having a good time (and no I didn't get drunk). But as with ALL VT tips everyone will have a difference of opinion, make up your own mind. :) Smart casual (although some did dress up more, but smart casual is the way to go)

Taafes: 'Traditional Irish Bar'

by Marpessa

Taafes is a traditional Irish bar (they've won awards in tourism). When I was in there about 80% of the people there were tourists (just guessing as I didn't ask). They had a traditional Irish band playing music, they were pretty good. It can get a bit crowded as it is popular, but the atmosphere is great and it's a good place to start your night off before moving onto a club. Anything is fine, the atmosphere here is very relaxed.

Quay Street Restaurant & Wine Bar: The delights of Galway

by sue_stone

After a day of soaking up the sights of County Galway, we were a little parched and popped into Quay Street Restaurant & Wine Bar for a pre-dinner tipple. We enjoyed a glass or three of wine, chatted to the Aussie staff (us Aussie's get around!) and did some people watching, Galway style.

Bizaar: Galway's Moroccan Bar, well sort of

by chrissyalex

Bizaar is billed as a "Moroccan Bar" and it really is cool. This multiple story bar has several different levels inside and also some small manmade "caves" and lots of nooks and crannies to hang out in. It is filled with beautiful Moroccan style furniture and decorations. Although it calls itself a Moroccan bar and is decorated in a Moroccan motif, they do not sell mint tea and the music played is comtemporary rock and pop. I still though it was very unique and had a great time there. It is worth checking out. casual

harbour pub: inishmore, aran island: a great pub

by call_me_rhia

i don't remember the name of this pub, however it's very easy to find, as it basically sits on the pier where the ferry docks. Great pints, great crowds, and - in particular - wonderful traditional music. Having common friend with the owner, I was treated like a queen. thx mate! definitely informal
