So who can help? For a lads' trip (in their mid-20's) to Galway on April 26th for four days where would be good places to visit, hang out and drink. Places where it won't feel like we're in a German susage party (i.e. a pub or bar full of men standing around sipping their pint of Spitfire ready to pounce on the sight of any fillie that happens to...

  • Pubs (general)

    Galway Nightlife

This is a big place with six different bar areas. The Whole place was re-fitted a couple of years back and is now a multi-leveled fun palace. You get the very crowded areas and quiter corners too. The Guiness is fine and they do coffee's and food as well. What makes the place is the mix of people - all ages and styles, locals and tourists. none

  • Pubs with Traditional Music

    Galway Nightlife

Came across a brilliant session here on Thursday (18/1/2007), eleven or so musicians, great acoustics and ambience. Fast reels and jigs, but also ballads, slow airs, even some blues thrown in. Recommended listening! Apparently its on every Thursday, 9.30. See http://godel.nuigalway.ie/opentrad/

  • Pubs with Music other than Trad

    Galway Nightlife

galway seemed to be a college town. this may be why it was so appealing to me. people my age, all in the pubs, drinking, listening to music, having a good time. the kings head was two stories, you could try to get to the stage, or you could say whatever, and stand above the stage... i'm more of a distance kinda girl. i like to observe. i like to...

  • Reasonably priced Guinness!

This nice bar and restaurant named after Al Pacino has a sign out front advertising that it sells "Guinness at student prices". This seemed true because the Guinness was almost a euro cheaper than other places. They also offer live entertainment, mostly rock music. casual

CPs is a pretty cool nightclub, went there both nights I was in Galway - it was packed both nights! They've couch/seated areas, 2 bars, on different levels, a decent sized dance floor and a very good mix of music (they played The Rasmus both nights - so that was me happy). It's just a fun place to be!And against someones comment before (who called...

  • 'Traditional Irish Bar'

Taafes is a traditional Irish bar (they've won awards in tourism). When I was in there about 80% of the people there were tourists (just guessing as I didn't ask). They had a traditional Irish band playing music, they were pretty good. It can get a bit crowded as it is popular, but the atmosphere is great and it's a good place to start your night...

  • The delights of Galway

After a day of soaking up the sights of County Galway, we were a little parched and popped into Quay Street Restaurant & Wine Bar for a pre-dinner tipple. We enjoyed a glass or three of wine, chatted to the Aussie staff (us Aussie's get around!) and did some people watching, Galway style.

  • Galway's Moroccan Bar, well sort of

Bizaar is billed as a "Moroccan Bar" and it really is cool. This multiple story bar has several different levels inside and also some small manmade "caves" and lots of nooks and crannies to hang out in. It is filled with beautiful Moroccan style furniture and decorations. Although it calls itself a Moroccan bar and is decorated in a Moroccan motif,...

  • inishmore, aran island: a great pub

i don't remember the name of this pub, however it's very easy to find, as it basically sits on the pier where the ferry docks. Great pints, great crowds, and - in particular - wonderful traditional music. Having common friend with the owner, I was treated like a queen. thx mate! definitely informal
