Dingle Town itself is a wonderful thing to do. Endless discoveries of shops, pubs, cafes, restaurants, waterfront, back streets, book stores, and record shops of endless Irish traditional music.
And of course a couple of nights spent in Dingle Town, pub hopping is a #1 must on anybody's list. No matter what your age.
I recommend at least a two night stay right in Dingle Town, days spent exploring the outskirts and evenings taking in the abundance of Irish tradition and culture.
The town of Dingle only has a population of around 1500 people but has 56 pubs! Being the main town on the peninsula it does attract tourists and certainly caters for them as far as entertainment & eating is concerned but it doesn't feel too touristy and still has a large fishing fleet so hasn't completely given way to tourism.
In the evening I reached DINGLE city and was glad to be there.
The only thing to do was look for a hotel, which wasn't difficult to find and.....have some decent food....
The windows of the restaurant where covered in salt and the wind added to that hours after hour: there was a real fierce storm.....no pleasure to go for a walk.....better to go to a nice and warm pub for a drink and some live music: the best thing to forget about a rainy and cold day and to end that day then & there...........
Brightly coloured buildings appear to be the "norm" in the town of Dingle. The whole town was pretty colourful -as were many other towns and villages we passed through in Ireland. Although maybe not QUITE as bright as this row of buildings! Our guide told us its because they have such miserable winters, they paint the buildings to brighten it up a bit! Even houses out in the middle of nowhere, sitting alone, are often painted at least a pastel colour.
can be found all over IRELAND and I know from own experience that they are the best refuges there are!
A rainy day?? just enter a pub to find an atmospheric interior, friendly people, to hear laughter and talking and forget about that rain....
And in case you might feel hungry? They serve the best meals and snack you could wish for.....
Dingle is a small town with a big marina, many pubs, restaurants and shops and lovely walks along the sea.
