    Kube: Not for Squares

by SabrinaSummerville Updated May 23, 2007

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Kube, the bar in the basement of the Killarney Towers Hotel, seems to be "the place" to go at the moment if you're young or young at heart.

It's a type of bar cum nightclub where the music throbs loudly into the early hours and the place is far too packed for dancing.

That saying, you can quickly suss out the crowd and it's not too big or two crowded so you won't miss anyone.

The lines of decor are very clean and American - lots of cream and creamy white spaces, big leather chairs, and plasma tv's that show sexy music videos that are not necessarily at all related to whatever music happens to be pouring from the speakers.

You can get to the bar and you can get to the bathroom without a long queue. That, coupled with the fact that you're likely to meet anyone you wish to meet here, makes it a great place for a night out in Killarney. There are seats and tables both inside and out and, as with most Irish bars these days, there's as much happening outside as in.

If you're looking for romantic and quiet, this is not for you!

Dress Code: The look here is smart casual, and even smarter for ladies.

Cafe du Parc: Five Levels of Fun

by SabrinaSummerville Updated May 23, 2007

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

As a resident in the very elegant Killarney Plaza Hotel, I really wasn't expecting cafe du Parc, tucked away as it is in the basement of this gracious establishment.

Cafe du Parc is a pub and nightclub on five different levels, though each and every room has a theme that is hip and happening.

Chairs are upholstered in cowhide and are soft and welcoming. You'd almost sleep there if you weren't intrinsically drawn to the loud music that throbs from the speakers. There's a live DJ every night and the place is usually crowded.

On the night I was there it was surprisingly quiet. One of the bouncers explained that the crowd had been temporarily drawn to a new club that had recently opened, but that in general they have to turn away the masses that queue at the door to get in!!!

Stretford End Bar: A Must For Man Utd Fans

by vichatherly Written Mar 3, 2010

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This place is run by a huge Man Utd fan and he is always seen 365 days of the year in a red shirt.

The walls of the place are covered with Man Utd Squad pictures from many a year and you'll have great fun in trying to remember all of their names.

    A real jewel.

Local's spot. 20 something crowd. Pretty solid night out. Met lots of young Irish folks. Made the experience much cooler than hanging out with a bunch of fellow tourists talking about which suburb of Detroit they are from.

For truly a truly authentic Irish music session, try and get to Buckley's in Killarney - it's near the movie theatre.
