O'Grady's Marina Inn: Good, medium priced food in Dingle

by Ekaterinburg

This is a good local restaurant, close to the pier in Dingle. It's a pub as well as a restaurant and it's usually packed. A lot of local people eat there which I think is a fairly good reccomendation for any restaurant. There's quite a good selection of dishes to choose from but as Dingle is a fishing port I usaully opt for one of the fish dishes. The seafood bisque is great as is the smoked salmon and brown bread. But overall, my favourite is definitely the humble fish in beer batter and chips. Lip- smackingly delicious every time.

The Strawberry Field: Celtic Pancakes

by Sagespot

What a shock to be finishing up our drive round the Ring of Kerry and discover a huge strawberry statue on the side of the road. Of course we had to pull in, and discovered a tiny little French crepe shope nestled in the hills of a rather nonexistant town of "Blackwater."The outside of the building is covered with black iron and pained bright red with strawberries at every opportunity. It's quite a sight. Inside is a cozy little place with maybe ten tables, and and a huge fireplace, excellent modern music, and COVERED in artisitic items for sale. They are well known for a specific cast iron wine rack, but also there were statues, paintings, and carvings. At a point of pride is a huge red motorcycle pained with the Strawberry Field's logo - an Indian I think. I've no idea what the hours are of the store, as it wasn't printed anywhere on the signs outside. Very small, very family run, very...

John Benny Moriarty Pub & Restaurant: The Best Desserts in Dingle!

by ladyanne

John Benny Moriarty Pub, Restaurant and Self-Catering Apartments. Well.....I have eaten in many pubs and this has to be one of the best. Nice interior, cozy and comfortable, and a pleasant envirement around the stone open turf fireplace. Lots of nooks and crannies. And they have the best desserts in town. I mean the very best!!! Some people go there just for that, plus you have great pub food and some of the best traditional music in Dingle. Our tour guide Tim Collins recommended us to go there for lunch after our tour, we ended up going back later that night also.In the off season the sets of music start very late around 9:30 - 10:00 pm on Mon. Weds, Fri. and Sat., so it is hard for the older traveler. It is open year round, and food is served from 12:30 to 10:30 pm. I had the fish-n-chips which is my favorite dish anywhere I am in Ireland. It was very good.....but the Apple Crumb Pie...

The Half Door, Dingle Co. Kerry: Upscale but not stuffy!!!

by ladyanne

Finding just the right restaurant was very important to us being that it was our first night in Dingle town, and it was Thanksgiving Day for us Americans. Our lovely hostess at our B&B gave us great advice on where to go....but her palette is very sophisticated being the ex-owner of Doyle's Restaurant in Dingle. She recommended the Chart House but after going in and looking at the menu we realized it was like any other fancy place that is in any city. We wanted something more in keeping with being in Ireland. So we went to the "Half Door" one of our previous choices. What a great decision....it was great. Formal but relaxing, nice ambiance with stone walls, and the food was excellent. It is still expensive but it was our special treat to ourselves on our whole trip.We had oysters, mussels, squid salad, tai fish cakes (which were too spicy for me, but my daugher loved them.) I really...

Kate Kearney's Cottage: Kate Kearney's Cottage at the Gap of Dunloe

Kate Kearney's Cottage is a nice cafe and restaurant today, while in the 19th century this place was well known for a beautiful lady, serving illegal whiskey to the travellers passing by. O Flahertys: In the Heart of Dingle Town...O Flahertys!!!

by ladyanne

I have frequented O' Flaherty's several times...some it was for the Pub life in the evening...sure can get crowed. Second time...it was for an early afternoon Pint.Nice Pub.....very lively and the ambiance is perfect. In the Heart of Dingle town, put it on your list for "Pub" hopping in the evening. Guinness.....the food is non-descript, I didn't even realize they served food per say.

Maire de Barra: Seafood in Dingltown

by globetrott

Pubs and restaurants became quite expensive during the last few years with the increasing streams of tourists. This is another one of the colorfully painted pubs/restaurants with life-folklore-music at special dates..Simply take a walk in Dingl-town and you will see plenty of these Restaurants and you will also hear the music well out in the street, when passing by.

The Singing Salmon: You like to heard a fish sing ??

by globetrott

It is one of the pubs with live music during the summer season - directely at the port of Dingl-town..I enjoyed the traditional music there very much, but did NOT hear any salmons sing...In general you will find lots of pubs with Irish folkmusik each night in Dingle Town, and unfortunately this town became packed with hundreds of backpackers and busloads of tourists every day in summer - a pity, because prices went up and the "Irish feeling" is gone at many places.

Good Friends Oriental Restaurant: A taste of China in Ireland

by nynaeve1723

Wandering around Killarney on a Saturday night without reservations made finding an eatery a challenge. We happened upon Good Friends Oriental Restaurant, having noticed it in a pamphlet we'd picked up earlier. The restaurant was nicely decorated, well-lit and the staff was very friendly, so we decided to give it a try.The food was reasonably priced and there was lots of it. The service was very fast and efficient, as well as friendly, as stated above.Several of the dishes, such as Pork Char Sui, were those not readily available in our area of the U.S. so it was nice to try them, as well as more recognizable (to us) ones, such as Chicken with Cashews. If you are looking for a tasty, economical meal out, I highly recommend Good Friends.

The Granary Restaurant: A place that has it all

by nynaeve1723

The Granary is the sort of restaurant that has something for everyone. It has live music on many nights, an excellent bar and a great restaurant. We were seated upstairs in a room that was open and spacious. Due to the amount of space, the tables were nicely spaced. The service was extraordinary. We were neither rushed in our selections, nor did we wait too long for our orders to be taken. Courses were served in a manner that allowed us to enjoy each one again without waiting too long between them. Drinks were replenished quickly and efficiently. The food was plentiful (in fact, with the side dishes, we were absolutely stuffed and didn't even share a dessert - our normal custom). The food was also exquisitely well prepared from the freshest of ingredients, mostly local. The menu was varied and choosing from the varous styles (curries, Irish, italian) and options was a challenge as...
