Sneem is a small village in the Ring of Kerry and the view that you may see on my picture is from the bridge in the centre of the village towards the nearby sea.
I still remember the times, when Sneem was just a sleepy village, but recently they got a small museum, lots of souvenir-shops, hostels & a campingsite...
...and also the average prices went up a bit, BUT still it is a good place for a stop-over !!
Of course I used this somewhat brighter day to walk the streets of SWEET SNEEM where I had just savoured 2 cups of hot cocoa and absorbed the great colours of the works of Art from the BRUSHWOOD STUDIOS.
I agree with Anne Myller that colours have a good influence on people and that is why in Ireland so many streets with houses painted in all kinds of colours can cheer me up enormously!
I know (and experienced....) that the sky is still threateningly grey and promising rain.....but I walked nevertheless!
All her watercolours are painted on SAUNDERS WATERFORD tm......which is great to work on (I know that from own experience...)
Anne is conscious, while she paints, that the planet is in need of healing.
"Colour is a strong hidden influence in people's lives", these are her words and I can agree with that idea.
She feels that the time for protest and warning from artists is over.
Ann again:" we are all aware of the dangers we face"...
For this reason Anne uses colours that are clean, vibrant and wholesome.
Her work has to :subliminally uplift anyone who passes within its sphere of influence....
Anne continues to exhibit in an ongoing arrangement with most of these galleries and has very little work left for exhibition ourside of her own gallery near SNEEM.
(Galleries in: Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, Washington DC, Mossingen, Augsburg, Düsseldorf (2), Brisbane and Melbourne.
Her work attrract cliënts from all over the world and her paintings hang in private and public collections arround the world and are included in some of the great collections of business houses, including Revlon USA and Ford USA.....
Now, please do enjoy her and her family's work in the TRAVELOGUE below!!
a lovely village with streets full of colourful painted houses.....and some nice places to have a drink and a bite...its name is CAFé MOCHA....
I did so and happened to enter a cosy & snug place where at that moment was an exhibition of painters of the BRUSHWOOD STUDIOS.
I enjoyed their works very much which made me stay there longer than I actually had planned........surprises are always just around the corner......
Let me tell you about that special family of artists!
Anne, who was born in SOUTH AFRICA in 1937, moved to Ireland in 1977.
She settled on the ring of KERRY and together with her family, founded BRUSHWOOD STUDIOS in the Parknasilla Woods near SNEEM.
" her work is a celebration of colour" and it sure is and that is why I feel so attracted to it!
Colour is life......
In addition to the permanent display in her own gallery Anne has exhibited extensively within Ireland and internationally!
