" The Skellig Experience " is a waste of time !!

by globetrott

The Skellig Experience is a well-known museum on Valentia Island on the north-west-end of the Ring of Kerry and many tourists go there because they expect something special.BUT the museum shows only the life of the sea-birds, a slide-show about the island and a few exhibits that were found on the island.IN MY OPINION, This museum is absolutely a wast of time, when you intend to go to the real island anyway."The Skellig Experience" is mainly ment for the tourbuses, so people get an idea about the Skellig Islands without having to really go there......Just like the common " fast-food-tourism "AND they also offer a " quicky-visit " of the island with a high-speed-boat, NOT landing there, BUT simply going around the island once and leaving again - you might get sea-sick for simply nothing else than getting a bit closer to the Skellig islands, without having the chance to get ashore !! This...

Killarney - most hotels are overprized

by globetrott

In my opinion the town of Killarney is one of the biggest tourist-traps in Ireland. Most of the hotels are overpriced and there is not a lot to see there in town for a tourist, except the nearby lakes and the Gap of Dunloe ( but that is outside of Killarney already and hotels and B&Bs there are much cheaper) Killarney might be a good place to get spare-parts for your camera or other equipment There are so plenty of lovely B&B and small hotels all over Ireland !Lists of B&B are available at the Tourist-informations

Blarney Castle

by Erin09340

You can't come to this area of Ireland and NOT kiss the stone. It's terribly touristy. All the same, it's a pretty location and when you do it, you can answer in the affirmative whenever anyone asks you about your trip. "Did you kiss the Blarney Stone?" "Oh, sure did!"

The Kerry Museum is housed in...

The Kerry Museum is housed in the Ashe Memorial Hall in Tralee Town Centre situated at the end of Tralee's main street, Denny Street. The museum attracts in excess of 100,000 visitors annually and has facilities in 8 languages. Children are made to feel particularly welcome(20,000 annually). - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -Ok now that's the official line. The museum Exhibits tell the story of Kerry (and Ireland) from the earliest times through an intriguing little train ride through time. This is best experienced after a few pints of the good stuff for that surreal effect, otherwise it's pure torture. Better still get completely lashed and you'll sleep right though it.

Killarney town.

by Krumel

Killarney town. There is absolutely nothing of interest to see in Killarney town itself. It is a very overpriced touristy place. Use it as a starting-off point, but don´t hang around! But by all means do go and visit the Lakes of Killarney and the National Park.
