Kingdom foods: A touch of luxury

Must give a little plug for this upmarket (but not ridiculously expensive) deli / winestore / cheeseshop / sandwich shop / coffee stop (you get the picture). They also usefully do good quality ready meals. Handy for a few treats for a pic-nic of if you are self catering. They use a good range of local suppliers...many from the kingdom of Kerry itself.

Many businesses and shops have 'kingdom' in their title, even if all their stock come from a sweatshop in Quandong province. I really feel that only places that use local suppliers should be able to apply such a moniker.

Housed in a converted chapel. A nice little treat, especially the take away coffee.

Dunnes Wonderland

A Walmart with quality goods instead of junk from China!
I'm not a big shopper-type, but I could have gone broke in there, if I could have gotten the stuff home.

What to buy: Make sure that you leave some empty space in your suitcases when you're packing to go- You WILL shop! And it will be a nightmare trying to get everything in the two bags you've carried with you!
Expect to buy: Postcards! Tourist stuff! Linens and clothing! Food! Gifts for the folks back home!

What to pay: I was surprised, even with the currency difference, just how inexpensive the things were there, for very good quality items. I think you should expect to spend more than you planned, just because the prices will seem irrestisable!

Manor West Shopping Centre: All Under One Roof

Centre with Mountain View

This pleasant new shopping centre is situated just off the roundabout at the entrance to Tralee town and it is well signposted. For those staying in the adjoining Manor West hotel it could be a Godsend, selling everything from Clothes to food.

It houses the usual array of Irish shops – Sam McCauley chemists, Debenhams department store, Tesco supermarket, Harry Corry home furnishings, a newsagent, food hall, and a lovely jewelers which has a wide variety with something to suit every price range. They also sell a lot of Irish made jewelry which is quite beautiful.

I found that in general the staff working in this centre are extremely pleasant and anxious to help. A seperate part of the centre reached from outside houses numerous other shops including electrical and sports goods shops.

What to buy: Tralee has plenty of shops with loads of "oirish" merchandise like Aran jumpers, Tralee tshirts, pens, caps, rock candy. No self-respecting Irish person would be seen in those kind of shops, but if you really wanna bring home a cute (?) little Irish leprechaun, then there's plenty of places in the town centre for you
