    The Pumphouse: Live music

The Pumphouse is a great place to go to watch live music in Kilkenny. Traditional music sessions are held on monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings during the summer months. The pub attracts a warm and welcoming crowd, and they serve good bar food too.

The Pumphouse: God love the Pumphouse

by TxDevil Written Dec 18, 2007

After ditching Kyteler's Inn in favor of the Pumphouse - I loved it. Has a Beer Garden upstairs, which is a wonderful thing for us smokers from the USA. Decent clientele. Only down fall was that it was not a late bar on a Friday night and we had to leave early. Oh, and they don't serve my beloved Newcastle Brown, but Smithwick's does just fine.

    Good music on the PA.

    Dress Code: casual.

    Kilkenny Pubs

The Pumphouse is one of those pubs which really caters to an audience. On any one day you can experience a total mishmash of characters from all walks of life. This gives rise to a diverse feel to the pub but always guarantees an atmosphere. Frequented by a youthful crowd this pub has almost become a cult classic in Kilkenny. Dimly lit with wooden finish it has comfortable seating and a reputation for great music. If your looking to escape from the norm or just curious this is always a good pub to try.

The standard of service is great with few flaws. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The Pumphouse also has a pool table and dart board. A sample lunch menu can be seen below.

Soup & Homemade brown bread, Sandwiches, toasted sandwiches and Baguettes.
    Baked Potatoes with assorted fillings.
Pies: Chicken, mushroom and salad, Lasagne with salad, Shepherd pie with salad, ploughmans platter.
    Speciality Irish stew.

Traditional Music from May to September. Sessions on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays.
