Rain Gear, Kilkenny
Good walking shoes, warm clothes and rain gear are a must. While in Kilkenny, it started to pour down rain and I had to take cover under a tree. Even with an umbrella, the rain will still find a way to get you wet!
Photo Equipment: Be sure to have something to keep your camera dry when the rain comes. Oh, and it will surely come!
Miscellaneous: While waiting for the rain to let up (and it always seems to stop after a short while), use the opportunity to chat with the locals. The picture is of a nice gentleman I met while taking cover under a tree. I look like a drowned rat, but it's all good.
Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: It will rain anytime of day, anytime of year so be prepared. In general Kilkenny gets the best of the Summer weather and the worst in the winter. I can remember only one really hot summer growing up - back in '95.
Make sure to pack good walking shoes en warm clothing. Also pack clothing to protect you from rain.
Tip: if you are at a spot you want to visit of make pictures at and it is raining: wait for 5 or ten minutes for the rain to stop. Especially on windy days the weather changes from minute to minute. At least, that's what we experienced...
