    Rinucinni: Good Itialian opposite the Castle

    Good Italian restaurant in a great location in Kilkenny. The restaurant has recently renovated and extended the upstairs part and is now on 3 levels. The ground level and upper most areas have the best atmospheres and it is very lively. It is advisable to book about 2-3 weeks in advance if you want a Fri / Sat night as it is very popular. There is an early bird menu and a good lunchtime menu.

    AN interesting feature of the upper floor is there are two large glass floor panels where you can see straight dow to the wine cellar below. Its strange to be walking towards your table and suddenly the floor seems to disappear beneath you ! Also short skirts or kilts may not be advisable at this point !

    The food is good italian cuisine with not a pizza in sight. Its probably in the above average to expensive category but worth it. You know you are in a slightly posher restuarant when you get napkins rather than paper serviettes though the dress code is smart casual to relaxed.

    Favorite Dish: Lasagne was very good

    The whole experience of dining at Rinucini's is breathtaking. The general ambiance is intimate with a special attention to details such as the fine italian portraits and furnishings. The wine list is filled with some excellent wines from top Italian wineries and the prices are respectful of the quality produced. The Fossati Dolcetto D'Alba Barolo is such a deep and full bodied red wine that compliments all on the menu. The red is served in double size red wine glasses which gives the wine greater chance to breath and grow in taste.

    Favorite Dish: The food is on another level of quality as it brings together classic italian dishes to the table. The meats and the fish all were of impeccable freshness and the clams for starters struck a decadent note, so delicate and tender to the bite. As for the main course the veal with parma ham and cream sauce with the seasonal vegetables as a side fantastic a plate cleaner to be sure. The Crabmeat pasta was delectable and the portions were perfection. The service was perfection and the staff very friendly a great achievement for any restaurant.
