The Marble City Bar, Kilkenny

Although this place was recommended, it turned out to be awful. Even though we visited during what shoud be one of Kilkennys busiest periods (The Cats Laughs Festival), the venue lacked any sort of atmosphere. We should have realised when we arrived, to over hear other patrons complaining that we might be in for a rough ride. After waiting for what seemed like an age to have our order taken, we got a shared starter of bread with dips. Simple, how could it go wrong... Stale bread, & dips... well only if a few mini packets of butter qualify? When the mains turned up, even though one of the courses was completely different to what was ordered, the word mediocre is what springs to mind. We believe you're paying restaurant prices for low quality 'fast food'. At least the Guiness was ok! Won't be returning!

below the marble city bar is marble city tearooms....this place is not to be missed for lunch!! it is by far the BEST place to eat in kk and not expensive! amazing salads and great coffee..the food is home made and really excellent!!!is not to be mistaken for marble city bar as the food is totally different even though they are run by same company! highly recommended!

Very classy looking bar that wouldnt look out of place in Dublin.

Favorite Dish: I had a lovely spicy chargrilled salmon with side salad & rice.
