This Franciscan Friary was build around 1400 by the Desmond’s on the banks of the river Deel. There’s a nice way to see the abbey from the other side of the river. You just have to take the road above the swimming pool (which lies directly at the river, therefore you can’t walk directly at the left side of the river). You can continue over the bridge then and turn right afterwards to go back. It’s only a short walk with nice views on the friary and the river.

The castle was founded around 1200, on an island of the river Deel. If you want to visit it, you have to contact the little tourist information at the main street and someone will guide you through the castle. We only took a look from outside, as we didn’t know how much time we would need for our further way.
