When visiting Foynes it immediately becomes obvious that all is not quite right about this town, the locals appear to consist solely of degenerate drunks, yahoos and scoundrels, often the younger more inebriated members of the town can be seen barley clothed, stumbling along the main street in the village on the way to a pub or in search of strangers and travellers to shock and lampoon, the majority of the town seem to spend most of their available time in these pubs and I would strongly advise that to visit one of these establishments is to put ones own health in dismal danger. An exception to this is The Shannon House which by all means is an island of civility and excellence in this idyllic yet godforsaken part of the country!
