    Old Limerick curses!

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Dated back to the 400s or so, an old curse was cast on Limerick city by the city's earliest bishop and it's patron saint Munchin when his fellow Limerickmen would not help him build a church, so in a fit of anger, Munchin declared that no Limerickman should ever prosper in his native city.

If one crosses the Thomond bridge late at night, the Bishop's Lady can, if she wants, fling him off the bridge's battlements. Now this is considered as fanciful codswallop now, but people really believed back then.
