The treaty stone refers to the Treaty of Limerick signed in 1691 between the Irish/French and English/Dutch forces, signed on the actual stone.

The Treaty Stone

The Treaty of Limerick was signed on this stone in 1691 by both English and Irish armies after the siege of Limerick.

The stand which is home to the stone bears the city's motto & coat of arms.
