The Clare Glens
The Clare Glens straggle the Tipperary/Limerick boarder and I think they are very very beautiful but impossible to get to on public transport, so if you can rent a car, do so.
The Clare river flows speedily through a gorge in the local forests and there are plenty of quiet nature trails. It's not particularly touristy, so make the most of it. I think it's quite romantic, actually :)
It's very popular for the University of Limerick kayak and canoe teams.
Horse-Trekking, Hillcrest, Galbally, Co. Limerick
We traveled up in the morning from Cork City. We were to arrive at the Firgrove Hotel in Mitchelstown so we could travel in convoy along the R662 to Galbally. There we turned right at the Post Office and followed the road(R663) to Hillcrest Riding School on the left. We were greeted by the owner who chatted away happily with us until it was time to get on our horses. We were provided with helmets and boots and introduced to the horses in the outdoor arena. Here we were helped to get on the horses.
The Riding School is nestled in between the Glen of Aherlow and the Ballyhoura Mountains with amazing views of both. It is also on the border with Limerick, Cork and Tipperary so is accessible to all these counties. The trek route included river beds, ruins, farmland, wooded areas and leafy laneways. In our group we had mixed ability riders from complete beginners to advanced. These were all accommodated. The staff were super friendly and helpful.
I would really recommend this. There may be public transport to the area but ring ahead to ask. The views alone are breathtaking but the whole experience was amazing.Related to:

If you're interested in just having a nice stroll in a green park you can always visit the People's Park in Limerick. There's tall memorial to Thomas Spring Rice that was erected in 1829 in the middle.
Flying Boats & Irish Coffee
In July, The Flying Boat musuem in Foynes holds the Irish Coffee festival in conjunction with Powers whiskey every year. The festival has only been around for a few years but the drink itself has been intoxicating people the world over ;-o)
However apart from the Flying Boat musuem, the port, a pub, a church and a supermarket, there is literally NOTHING else in Foynes
Grady's Hill & the Holy Year Cross
This is across the road from my parent's house.
