  • Leprechaun Hunt Bringing up the rear....

    Carlingford Local Customs

Stopping every few feet to take photos, meant that we were near to the back of the procession, well not to worry, we were in good company! This trio of jolly ladies nearly made me wish that I'd purchased a costume- or at least a hat. They seemed to be having such a great time - we never saw them after these pics though, so I don't know if they...

  • Leprechaun Hunt - meet the band!

    Carlingford Local Customs

After a while, we spotted the band - The Carlingford Pipe Band, and people having their photo taken - Great! Where's my VT flag? I met Anne Marie at the 2010 London Treasure Hunt, where one of our tasks for bonus points was to get photographed with as many people in uniform as we could - So, I think I must have been back in 'Treasure Hunt Mode',...

  • Windsor Restaurant

    Dundalk Restaurants

The Windsor comes highly recommended and, according to my straw poll amongst local friends, is the second best restaurant in Dundalk. I took visitors there early on a Friday evening. The restaurant is upstairs from the pub. Surprisingly, we were okay without a reservation but we did have to wait 10-15 minutes for a free table. That was no problem...

  • Adventure Activities

    by eoin95 Written Oct 18, 2010

CR Adventure is a sailing school and adventure centre located in Clogherhead. They run fun days out, power boat trips up the coast and sailing trips out of Port Oriel in the town. The staff are fun and friendly and always go the extra bit to make your activity extra special. They run right through the winter so there is always something going on there.

Brilliant location on Main Street, Blackrock on the seafront. The seafood chowder starter is a meal in itself and the hot seafood platter is fab!The sister restaurant "The Brake" is a few doors away and is more popular, serving a similar menu, but The Clermont has a much better ambiance.

  • High Cross

    Newtown Monasterboice Favorites

This is one of the unusual high Celtic stone crosses of Monasterboice - the average hight of the "common" crosses is around 2 metres (give or take a bit ;o). This one is way above 2 m high...Darach & I are of average hight (I'm about 1.67 m) and we felt a little "dwarfed", if you know what I mean ;o)))

Two felines, one with a kitten, the other with a bird, sit in high relief before an inscription which is usually translated "a prayer for Muiredach for whom the cross was made [or who caused the cross to be erected]." The Muiredach in this inscription is generally thought to be the abbot who died in 922/23, thus giving the cross its name and the...
