The Castlebar Walks are officially approved by the IML - International Marching League. In fact, Ireland is one of the eight founding members of IML 17 years ago. To date, there are 22 member countries worldwide.
The Castlebar 4-days-walks distinguish between the Road Walk and the Ramble. Road walkers do 10k, 20k or 40k per day on an individual basis. Ramblers cover up to 30k per day in a group led by qualified guides, and the ramble takes you across broad bogs and mountainsides, sandy roads and moorlands.
Walkers are free to participate either one, two or three days, or the full four days. Every afternoon and evening there is entertainment provided: live music, performances of Irish dancing and at the end of day 4: the Blister Ball.
