Following the N15 North out of Sligo takes you to the seaside town of Rosses Point. There are great views of Sligo and the Ocean. The area has many restaurants, especially some good fish eateries. Plenty of caravan space and hotel accomodation locally make this a good spot for a break.
There's a bus that operates between Sligo and beaches around them. But only Monday - Saturday. And we were there on a Bank Holiday. We decided to rent a car, but everything was closed, including the rent a car office. Luckily.
So we took a taxi. And made sure that before they pick us up, they pick up our suitcases form the hostel and then come to Rosses point and drive us to the bus station.
I've never met a taxi driver as nice as the girl who drove us. On our way to Rosses point we found out everything about her family and her sisters in law. On the way back to Sligo she found out about weather in Croatia.
Rosses point. Its a beach. A nice one. Took us almost two hours to get to the end of it and back. It was really windy and cold. But sunny.
If you're staying in Sligo or just passing through, it is worth your while to go out to Rosses Point......http://www.rossespoint.com/ .
It is afew miles outside the town, but it is beautiful. There is a hotel and afew bars out there. Any time I'm travelling, I normally stay out there at least one night and always enjoy it.
