Favorite thing: As you pass through the castles, ruins, abbeys and the such, pay attention to the detail of the craftsmanship that went into the construction and how they were able to do the work with limited tools.
Fondest memory: Wandering through the castle will amaze you with the scale of the buildings and the detail that went into the construction. Those memories will stay with you.

Fondest memory: The largest structure in this rich complex is the roofless 12th century Cathedral which despite its ruined state is still remarkably graceful. In 1647 the cathedral witnessed one of the worst atrocities of Cromwell's war. As his troops, under the command of Lord Iniquin, approached the town, the citizens of Cashel fled to the sanctuary of the cathedral. Iniquin ordered his soldiers to pile turf around the walls and set it alight. Hundreds were roasted to death.

Favorite thing: This was the seat of kings and mediaeval bishops for 900 years and flourished until the early 17th century. Indeed there was a settlement here from pre-Christian times, traces of which have long since vanished.
