While visiting Ireland from our home in Florida, we made our home base in Nenagh, County Tipperary. We swapped houses with some friends, and we spent quite awhile checking out the local bars and restaurants. A friend of mine found Gaffney's by mistake. We had been searching for a good cigar shop, and saw Gaffney's sign. Gaffney's is located on a small side street which runs off of the main road through town. The shop is located in a beautiful building that was constructed in the 1700's (I think). The top floor is a tobacco & wine shop, and they also sell organic food and different coffee drinks. There is a small sitting area outside and on the first floor, and a larger area to hang out in the basement. This is a cool place to just relax with friends. Don't worry about cigar smoke, because you are not allowed to smoke in restaurants and bars in Ireland. I can't really comment on the food, because we only tried a cheese plate, but that was excellent. We tried several bottles of wine (Australian and Argentinian), and everything was super. One bottle cost approximately 21 Euro, and we found the same bottle in Florida for $64.00. I know it's not for everyone, but I really enjoyed the selection of cigars. They have Dominican, Honduran, Cuban, or whatever suits you. One of the best things about finding this place was meeting the owner, Declan Gaffney. He was friendly and patient with us, and he made us feel very much at home. If you find yourself in Nenagh, check this place out!
Favorite Dish: We only tried the cheese platter, but everything looked good.
