Canoeing and Kayaking is becoming more popular in Dungarvan every year. Good locations for canoeing are the Colligan river, Dungarvan Bay and the Gold Coast Pier. You can rent kayaks during the summer from the Gold Coast Pier in Ballinacourty.
Another good kayaking location is Ardmore, 15Km from Dungarvan where you can kayak out to a ship wreck.
Equipment: You can rent Kayaks during the summer season at the Gold Coast Pier

For a town of it's size Dungarvan is spoilt for choice when it comes to the sport of Golf. The town boasts three 18 hole championship golf courses. All three courses are very different in their own right and all have their own unique features.
You can buy green fees for all three individually at the clubhouses or alternatively you can buy the Dungarvan Golf Triangle offer which allows you to play all three courses. This is much cheaper than paying the individual green fees.
If you haven't time for all three I would recommend the Gold Coast Golf Course (but I'm bias - I'm a member!) Having said that this course does have the best scenery during your round with fantastic views over the bay.
The other two courses are Dungarvan G.C. and West Waterford G.C.
There are a host of other G.C. within an hours drive of Dungarvan including Tramore, Faithlegg, Clonmel, Youghal, Midleton and of course Fota Island G.C. (past host course of the Irish Open)
Equipment: You can rent clubs at each of the courses. If you need to buy equipment Dungarvan G.C. has a great pro shop. There is also a new Golf Store (Deise Golf) located across from McDonald's on the Dungarvan ring road. The All Rounder Sports shop in the main square also sells golf equipment.
