This is, without a doubt, one of the best meals we've eaten in Ireland. We were given a recommendation by an aunt, and she proved to be very much on the money.
The restaurant is located, as you might imagine, in a former tannery, and the owners have done a wonderful job with the decor: it's a bright, elegant space, with some unusual modern Irish art on the wall. The small bar area is cosy, and perfect for a pre-dinner drink.
The service here is top-notch - worth remarking on since service can by hit or miss in Ireland. The staff were happy to answer our questions and to allow us to order items from the a la carte while still charging us for the fixed price menu.
As Gareth's father said, you pay Dublin prices even in Dungarvan, but you will have a very special experience, and if you go for their early bird menu, you won't be too impoverished, either.
Favorite Dish: As you might expect from the location, The Tannery does plenty of seafood, but there are numerous choices for those with less of an interest in fish and shellfish. All of our menu items were super, from starters through desserts: they change the menu so frequently that recommending a specific item would be unwise, but the crispy cod that Gareth enjoyed makes him wish they wouldn't change the menu at all!
