Ginos has been open since I was at college and in the twenty five years or so since then it has change very little - except perhaps to expand the floor area to allow space for more diners.
The menu is simple indeed - mouthwatering home made pizzas, garlic bread, basic side salads, and incredible home made ice creams.
This place sells my favourite pizza in the world and that says a lot considering the amount of time I have spent in pizzaland countries;-)
The sell to in house diners and also to the take away market. They do not, however, deliver. It's always busy so be prepared to wait for a table. It's also right in the heart of the pub centre of the city so would be a good place to come for casual food before setting off on a night of clubbing.
Service is fast and pleasand and everything is really fresh.
I recommend the Ginos special pizza which has tons of ham, pepperoni, mushroom, peppers, corn,tomato, onion, salami and so on. Lots and lots of cheese there too!
I would follow this with either the death by chocolate or the banana Baileys. Both of these are totally mouthwatering ice cream dishes.

The Jade Palace was Waterford's first ever Chinese restaurant. Indeed, it is said that it's founder, Johnny Fan, was one of the first (if not the first) Chinese restauranteur in Ireland.
Although the restaurant has since changed hands (now owned by a relative of the infamous Johnny Fan) it is still as good as ever.
Housed in an elegand period building, the decor is opulent. Recently the bathrooms have been remodelled, the walls are now graced with tanks of elegant tropical fish, and backlit glass panels etched with Chinese symbols provide subtle lighting. Essentially, the place remains much the same - including the menu. As the saying goes, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
It is particularly fine value to come here for lunch. For just €11.50 you may enjoy a starter plus a main course and coffee. Dessert is just a euro extra. For this you will get generous portions of soup, a plate of special fried rice or perhaps the tangy sweet and sour chicken, first class service, and sumptuous surroundings. They've been doing this for twenty or thirty years, maybe more, and they've been doing it well.
Most recently I lunched here with two friends. I enjoyed the chicken and sweetcorn soup, thick as chowder and rich with beaten egg. I followed this with the house special fried rice - a plate full of tasty rice, jewel coloured vegetables, prawns, chicken, and barbecued pork. Totally delicious. For the three of us, including wine and soft drinks, the bill totalled €51.00.
This is to be highly recommended. During the day it is popular with City workers and for business lunches. At night it attracts a local crowd in the main and is very popular with couples for a romantic meal.
Prices at night are more expensive, but you can eat certain dishes in the cocktail bar downstairs at a lower price.
