Wexford Favorites

Favorite thing: There is a tourist office located near the River Slaney at the end of Bride Street on Crescent Quay. As we didn't have much time, we just picked up a map and wandered around for a bit, I think there was a sign for a guided walking tour but we had missed it.

Favorite thing: Brilliant sunsets most evenings over Bannow Bay. I can just walk down from my sisters house to the beach and sit and wait for this fabulous sunset. A sunset is always special no matter where in the world you are.

Favorite thing: Enniscorthy tourist board really plugs it's role in the 1798 rebellion, so practically all the sights of the town are related to the rebellion in some way or other. It's not going to mean much to a tourist who doesnt know or care about Irish history, but you should still give it a couple of hours of your time, it's a very pretty little town

Favorite thing: Wexford is unlike any other festival, the enthusiasm is unique; it is the total experience that matters!!

The town go Opera mad in Oct to Nov, with exhibitions of art, ophotos, and mini operas all over the town. The Guinness singing pubs are not to be missed...

Favorite thing: By far and away the best time to visit wexford is the Oper Festival, Held from the last week of October till the end of the second in November. The festival not only boasts one of the biggest Opera Festival gatherings in Europe, but also in recent years the beginning of the Fringe Festival which runs alongside it. The three weeks are a complete experience from visiting the multi-tude of Art Gallerys as every space available is turned into an exhbition for the talented locals, to historic tours. The Opera's begin after the openning cermonny, Held on the Wexford Quay a magnificent show staged by the beautifully renovated quay. The Fringe festival offers entertainment from day time street performances, to the amazing "Swinging & Singing" Pubs Competition . The Swinging and Singing pubs competition has been running nearly as long as the origanal festival itself, as its origins arrive from the Opera performers going to the Local and having a sing song after. Now with over 50 pubs competting for Best Act, Best Comedy and Best Overall performance the Competition is furious.. And when you have three pubs a night trying their hardest to ensure they are the best in wexford (maybe in Ireland) the CRAIC IS MIGHTY !!!
