Avondale House, the birthplace and home of Charles Stewart Parnell one of the greatest political leaders of Irish history is situated in the Middle of county Wicklow, on the doorstep of Rathdrum Town.
It is set in a magnificent forest park of over 500 acres with tree trails and walks ranging
in duration from one to five hours.
This beautiful Georgian House contains many original pieces of furniture and is worth seeing!
Visitors are introduced to this wonderful historical house by a specially commissioned audio visual presentation.
Other facilities include a restaurant, book shop, picnic areas, children’s play
area, two orienteering courses and large car/coach park.
The guided tours of the house last about 30 min, and entrance fees vary from: Adult: €6.00, Concessions: €5.50 to Family tickets : €17.50 (2 adults, 2 children)
It is a magnificent place to spend a day in, walking around and inhaling as much clean air as possible.
Park admission is free, parking tickets are fairly expensive, so better walk.
Be careful, if you get off the beaten track it is very easy to get lost!

The easiest (and fastest) way to get to Rathdrum is to board a train. Irish Rail provides regular services on Drogheda - Rosslare international Airport route. Most probably you will set off from Dublin, Pearse station or Connoly is recomended.
Ticket price varies from 12,50 euro student return to around 20 euro for adult return.
Notice:
To buy a student ticket in Ireland you will need to but a "student travel card", which costs around 6 euro.
