Lynhams of Laragh: Buffet in Laragh

by hevbell Updated Apr 12, 2015

We stopped here with our tour group and, although we had the option of going elsewhere in the village, we chose this place as it did a buffet type of pub lunch so we wouldn't have as long a wait for our food when we only had a limited stop time. Its a hotel but we just were in the restaurant/lounge bar for lunch. It has a lovely friendly atmosphere and the food was really nice, we were all happy with our meals. They had a canteen style set up, so you just go up the bar counter to order your meal & then find a seat. I would recommend this whether you stop by on a tour or are driving yourself. There is lots of parking at the rear.

Favorite Dish: I had a really tasty lasagna, served with chips and salad.

Fitzgerald's Pub: As Seen on TV

    by Bwana_Brown Updated Dec 31, 2004

    4.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Because we had been watching the Ballykissangel TV series filmed in Avoca for a couple of years, we were interested to experience the ambiance of the Pub which serves as the centrepiece of that series. Our plan to come to Ireland in June, before the heavy tourist season hit, was working great. There did not seem to be much competion for spots wherever we went in Ireland and we also managed to have mostly sunny weather with only a few sprinkles here and there. The interior of the pub was quite simple and straightforward, so we just enjoyed sitting down (for a Guinness in my case) as we watched the locals talk about their everyday lives!

Favorite Dish: Actually, we ate a delicious Fish & Chips meal at the white building on the left side of the photo - the Avoca Cafe with 'Traditional Fish & Chips'. It was fun to sit there in their plain surroundings with a view of the river running through the town.

Jack White's Pub: Jack White's Pub

by orlikins Written Aug 23, 2004

Jack White's is one of those landmark pubs on the Dublin-Wexford road, at the turn-off for Brittas Bay.
It's a local family kind of pub, lots of passing trade, still an old 70s/80s Irish kind of decor.

Favorite Dish: i had roast turkey & ham on mash with veg.
