Fitzgerald's Pub: As Seen on TV

by Bwana_Brown

Because we had been watching the Ballykissangel TV series filmed in Avoca for a couple of years, we were interested to experience the ambiance of the Pub which serves as the centrepiece of that series. Our plan to come to Ireland in June, before the heavy tourist season hit, was working great. There did not seem to be much competion for spots wherever we went in Ireland and we also managed to have mostly sunny weather with only a few sprinkles here and there. The interior of the pub was quite simple and straightforward, so we just enjoyed sitting down (for a Guinness in my case) as we watched the locals talk about their everyday lives! Actually, we ate a delicious Fish & Chips meal at the white building on the left side of the photo - the Avoca Cafe with 'Traditional Fish & Chips'. It was fun to sit there in their plain surroundings with a view of the river running through the town.

Jack White's Pub: Jack White's Pub

by orlikins

Jack White's is one of those landmark pubs on the Dublin-Wexford road, at the turn-off for Brittas Bay. It's a local family kind of pub, lots of passing trade, still an old 70s/80s Irish kind of decor. i had roast turkey & ham on mash with veg.
