Derry people are a very friendly and hospitable bunch. If you're in a bar in company of locals and they buy a round then you'll be sort of expected to buy a round at some point as well. It's kinda tradition. Don't worry if you forget, someone will remind you when it's your turn ;o)

And don't be surprised if you pass locals you've never met in the streets that seem to have this odd urge to quickly tilt their head to one side and back and at the same time utter sometimes hard to understand words or phrases like 'A' Right?' or 'How's it goin'?'. It's not a tic, but simply being friendly. Smile and greet them back - the head tilting bit might take a while to get used to. I do it now even when going abroad, it sort of comes naturally after living here for some years. And you can imagine the looks I get sometimes - lol
