Have a pint...or two!

by haimee

My favorite thing about Ireland was the pubs. I have to admit I spent quite a bit of time drinking during my stay but it was the best place to meet people and take in a little Irish culture. My fondest memory of Ireland would be the people I met during my stay; the woman we met on the street outside her jewelry shop our very first day, who gave us a very personal and detailed history of her home the City of Cork, the publican who allowed my friend to sing 'Mercedes Benz' one too many times, and the young people we met so willing to show us a little fun in their city.

Enjoying Irish beaches

by hawes

Ireland is full of beautiful castles, amazing countryside, great beer, spectacular coastlines, and believe it or not, great beaches. One of my fondest memories of being in Ireland was laying out on the beach at Rossalare Strand after we had gotten off the boat from France.

The Wesht is besht!

by tvdm

The best of Ireland is at the West Coast. Whether it's Kerry, Galway or Donegal (preferably all three) you're going to visit; you haven't seen the most beautiful place in Ireland if you haven't seen these. I'm sure one of my many fav memories in Ireland was the day I visited the hauntingly beautiful Gap of Dunloe near Killarney (co. Kerry, see pic). I'd been to Kerry numerous times before, but that day it was pouring down rain, there were no tourists and the forbidding landscape of the Gap seemed unreal. Then suddenly I found myself in a small fairytale-like grove; the sudden change and the overall experience was wonderful.

Travel Around!! It's a small place

by BrescianoFC

Ireland is small so it's easy to get around. Hire a car or take a tour bus. There is so much to see and do. My fondest memories of Ireland are of the people, a great bunch the Irish!! Easy to get along with. Go pub-hopping to savour these great people.

RING OF KERRY

No visit to Killarney would be complete without driving around the Ring of Kerry. Don't be surprised to see cows heading toward your car as you go over The Ballighisheen summits. The Irish music at Buckley's is superb.

ULSTER

by pginer

ULSTER is not the same as Northen-Ireland. ULSTER is a region of 9 counties and Northen-Ireland are 6 of them.Northen-Ireland belongs to United Kingdom and the other 3 counties belong to the Republic of Ireland. I was mistaked before going to Ireland! because I thought it was the same, and they are not!Nevertheless, there are no borders. If you are driving from Dublin to the North you will realise you are in Northen-Ireland because you will notice:* English number plates in cars* Have to pay English Pounds instead of Euros* Collours of the English flag everywhere. English flag is: white, blue and red. Irish flag is green, white and gold

Visit Dublin

by pginer

Most popular places to visit in Dublin:* Christ Chuch and St Patrick Church: both built in the XIII century and both of them belong to the Church of Ireland (even though most Irish are catholic)* Old Castle which has been used by the local Goverment for centuries. * Did you know that "MESIAH" was played by HANDEL for the first time in Dublin?

visit Guinness Brewery, Temple...

by Vessla

visit Guinness Brewery, Temple Bar, St. Stephen's Green, Trinity College in Dublin.Cliffs of Moher, Aran Islands, Connemara, Kerry, Waterford ... When I arrived to Ireland for the very first time I was in Dublin airport and tried to figure out the best way to get to Limerick by evening. I had a train to catch, but I didn't know how long it would take by bus from the airport to the trainstation during the afternoon hours, so I asked one of the busdrivers. He told me straight out that I would never make it in time for my train. As I started to look very worried he added that there was no problem as I would have plenty of time to get drunk waiting for the next one. Needles to say I miss the Irish people and their great attitude to life!
