The atmosphere at Trinity College Dublin was very nice. I met many lovely people there, both Irish and other foreigners. Then of course there were evenings at the pub, weekend trips to nearby Howth...
Walk down to Mother Redcaps on a Sunday morning. The bells of Christchurch, the Liffey flowing past, the pounds of potato pancakes and quiche from the Gallic Kitchen. Life doesn't get much better. *Nursing hangovers in Beweleys on O'Connell Street.*Seeing loads of incredibly good theater at cheap prices.*Watching Ireland kick Italy's ass in the 1994 World Cup.*Guinness, Guinness, Guinness
Have a guiness in a local pub and talk to the people! It is said that there are more the 40 different greens (coulour) in Irleand.Unbelievable, but true.We always tried to discover the 41st one, but we couldn´t decide which one it was.

Go to Trinity College in Dublin...the fact that it was built in the 1500s is reason alone, but the Book of Kells, really is amazing...back then the monks really did their jobs right! the people are the friendliest i've ever met...and for a woman travelling on her own, that's quite refreshing!

Get talking to the people. We're a friendly and curious sort with a story about everything.Don't be discouraged by the accent, tis a 'soft' sort of english and you can leave dose 'th's back in english class, we don't boder wih dem at all! People in Dublin and Galway should be easy enough to understand while in the North they speak a bit like the Scots and down South they 'sing' their words very fast. It just takes a while to tune in your ear.Don't be afraid to strike up a conversation in the pub or wherever you are staying - the weather is normally a good ice-breaker. It's usually a complaint because it's usually bad and if it isn't you should be out West enjoying the scenic, lush, green countryside because the good spells never last long! Watching on the telly - Ireland BEAT England 1-0 in Stuttgart, Germany, June, 1988 - sorry Brit neighbours, couldn't resist that one. It was great,...
Walk alomng the beautiful coast, its so scenic and old you really get a sense of history. The new years eve xmas party, unlike clubs in a big city it was a small afair rather like a youth club disco with balloons everywhere and a raffle, excellent, really innocent and sweet, apart from loads of drunkern irish and myself!
Oh lots of things: 1)Try Irish stew and Corned beef with Cabbage...it just tastes so much better here. 2)Buy some Shannon Crystal...its cheaper than waterford but same high quality and we liked the name better, located in Ennis, County Clare. 3)See the cliffs of Moher, Rock of Cashel and the lakes of Killarney. 4) Drive through Connemara and when in Sneem (County Kerry), go the way the Fairies went! The 40 shades of green, the rolling hills, the people, the sheep, the weather...especially the mist, all those beautiful crumbling old castles, gravestones, ruins and celtic crosses.

We took a day trip to Howth ( I think I spelled that right...:)), which is only like a half hour by train outside of Dublin. We meant to take a 'seaside walk', but we got lost and ended up walking through someone's sheep pasture! But it was one of the most fun days we had; we took pictures from a cliff and had ice cream by the pier:) I highly recommend this picturesque little town:)
