by shivan

DUBLIN is a wonderful quiet, pleasant town.Music is everywhere. Celtic music has its homeland here so you can find CDs never seen before. Some artists are mot famous here and almost unknown abroad, like Christy Moore and Eleanor Shanley. It's very hard to find something of them abroad, the only place where I did find something is Tower Records at Piccadilly Circus, London. The Dubliners, instead, are well known abroad, so look for them in your store's shelves, if you laki celts music.Bands of musicians are everywhere in town.

by Xinta

One of the country's wildest scenery lies just offshore: Inishmore the biggest island of the west-coast Aran Islands is the best known among the three Aran Islands. Dun Aengus, which perched terrifyingly on the edge of the sheer southern cliffs of Inishmore, gives a perfect view of the tremendous cliffs rip along the entire length of the island.

See the west of the country. ...

by dracko

See the west of the country. The country is at its most beautiful there, from the mountains and valleys around Killarney, through the lush hills of Limerick and Clare, to the rugged rocky beauty of Burren, Connemara and the Aran Islands. The picture above was taken in Connemara, just to give you an idea of what you could be missing if you don't visit. Walking through the Killarney National Park along the Kerry Way was an awe inspiring experience. The sheer beauty of the land around me while walking along the trail with no one else around for miles (or at least nowhere to be seen), the overwhelming emotions of being one with the land - experiences one simply cannot capture on film or in words and something I hope to never forget.

Visit the Cliffs of Moher in Doolin. Walk (or crawl like I did) to the edge and look over. You will see the most beautiful ocean 800 feet below! And you have to go to a traditional pub with irish music. Spending St. Patty's Day with the locals at O'Connors Pub.

I'll be back!

by Mandy23

Don't know if it's the fondest, but it's a memory of our first trip to IRL in 1997. Well, not exactly about the trip, more the time before. We should go by bus on Tuesday to a town nearby and then to IRL, but by mistake we already dragged our luggage on Monday morning to the bus station. Come on, don't laugh, things like that can happen or not? ;-) And after waiting and waiting and no bus in sight, we finally figured that we messed up the date when our trip should start. So we tried it again next morning ;-)And about the 2001 trip? I did this one with a friend that I met originally online, but in the meantime it's a 'real life' friendship as well ;-)

U2 at Slane Castle!

by Sunshine64

I went to Ireland with a remote hope of being able to get tickets to see U2 at Slane Castle. The good karma I had from giving up my Grateful Dead ticket in the 90's must still be with me, because, miracle-of-miracles, we got tickets! It was the most amazing experience! I will never forget the 100,000 people singing along with every song, and the friendliness of the Irish people.

by Tara2001

I was staying in a small village called Ballyhack on the Wexford-Waterford waterway. It is a very picturesque place, typically Irish, traditional and quaint. There is a small corner shop in the village and of course, the pub, where the locals seem to gather regularly during the evening. The fresh air is astounding, and the glow of the stars in the rich blue night sky is not to be missed.

The second step of my tour...

by mcfly77

The second step of my tour was Galway, about 3 hours from Dublin across the N4 and the N6. Galway is a small town on the west coast that overlooks the deep and endless Atlantic Ocean. It is a very touristic place, where you can find all kinds of people wandering from a restaurant to another. In fact in Galway the best cod you’ve ever eaten is sold, always fresh and good-smelling, served togheter with French fries. Very good! But the best thing to do in Galway, I think, is to sit in front of the ocean looking to its enchanting jet-blue surface. You will get rid of your problems. You will feel free while watching the swans swimming in the canal that brings water to the ocean. I don’t recommend you spending the night in Galway, but go southward till the Cliffs of Moher (about an hour from Galway) where there are a lot of beautiful B&Bs in which you can spend a good night. In particular I...

by mcfly77

Dublin:Dublin has been the first step of my 'Irish tour'. I get to the city bya Panorama charter flight, very cheap and comfortable. Even if it was theend of July, the dublin sky was completely covered with grey clouds, andit was raining. But that was a drizzle rain that didn't bother me. I thinkthat the best way to visit Dublin is wondering around the small streets, stopping time by time in a pub to take a beer or an irish coffee, havinga chat with the pub folk, always willing and well-tempered, except somescorbutic old men that could blame you cause you're not Irish (it's anexceptional case, anyway!). Don't mind them!In Dublin you absolutely must: the pubs, (expecially those in the suburbs, free from tourists), St. Stephen Green (an enchanting park), the many churches (like Christ Church Cathedral) and take a walk by the Liffey.

Listen to the local radio stations and read the local newspapers. They are usually a mine of information as to what is on in the area, places to eat and with a little bit of local history thrown in. Better still why not look them up before you visit.http://www.southeastradio.ie/http://www.peoplenews.ie/ Wexford Harbour
