Dunluce castle

In March 1999, we took a little road trip from Dublin north. We went up to have a look at the Giant's Causeway and the Causeway coast. Dunluce castle was a ruin along the way.

In February 1999, the same day we went to Drogheda and the Boyne valley, we found more ruins at Monasterboice, with a round tower and some high crosses.

In February 1999, the same day we went to Drogheda and the Boyne valley, we also went to the ruins from the 12th century of Mellifont Abbey.

In February 1999, we went to Drogheda, the Boyne valley and a number of historic sites there. These included the Hill of Slane, where St. Patrick supposedly lit a bonfire for Christianity in 433 AD.

Definitely check out one of the many pubs. The Brazen Head is supposed to be Ireland's oldest - established in 1198! We went there for lunch in May 1993.

When driving through the southern Connemara district west of Galway, signs are in Irish and you may not even recognize the names of cities that you may be looking for on the map.
