Dhoon Beach is one of those wonderful places that can only be reached on foot. It is a difficult walk (and the walk back is tortorous!!) but it is so worth it.
You reach Dhoon Beach by taking a walk through Dhoon Glen. There are many glens to explore on the Island but this is easily one of the best. A dramatic waterfall tumbles all the way down this steep glen and when you eventually reach the beach you are surrounded by some stunning cliff faces. The combination of sheer cliff face and greenery is amazing and when you look up and realise how far down you have climbed you really begin to dread the walk back!
This is a very rocky beach so if you were thinking of finding somewhere secluded to go bathing this would not be the place - ideal if you just want somewhere to be quietly though.
The walk through the glen is very steep and at times treacherous so is unsuitable for children and anyone with mobility problems.
You can find Dhoon Glen on the coast road between Laxey and Ramsey.

Snaefell is the highest peak on the Isle of Man at 2036ft. The view from the top is stunning - on a good, clear day you can get a 360° view of the Island and you can see the "Seven Kingdoms", these being:
- The Kingdoms of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales;
- The Kingdom of Heaven;
- The Kingdom of the Sea; and
- The Kingdom of Man!
There are two ways to reach the top of the mountain. You can either catch an electric tram in Laxey, or you can walk - either way is an experience not to be missed! If you choose to walk though do not fall into the trap of thinking that following the tram tracks will be an easier option - it isn't!! This route is a lot further as you have to go round the mountain rather than straight up it.
To walk up you can drive to the museum on the mountain road and park there. There is a path which will take you to the summit - on a good day there will be a few people using this so easy to spot. Most of the walk is steep any way but the last little bit is VERY steep - hard work but good for the legs!!
Once reaching the top you will find a cafe and visitors centre offering welcome refreshments and you will be rewarded with some amazing views!! As it is possible to reach the summit by tram there are no limitations on mobility for this experience - everyone can get there!
Don't forget to take some money with you becaause you will need a drink when you get to the top - and also don't forget your camera!!!

The point of Ayre is the most Northerly point on the Isle of Man. There isn't much there at all - no cafe so bring a thermos and a picnic and most importantly - NO TOILET!!! There is a visitor centre here which is quite interesting.
This is a beautiful, rugged spot and is a great place for spotting seals, dolphins and even basking sharks.
I always have trouble finding this place (not sure why - it's quite simply as far North as you can go!) but it is always well worth the effort.
You will need to wear good solid footwear as the entire area is made up of pebbles so not easy walking ground at all. The water up here is beautiful and well worth a dip if it is warm and you are feeling brave!!! You do need to be aware that there are many different and strong currents up here though so you will need to take extra care.
