Millichap's: Much to see in Millichap's!

by Maconel

I was very taken with this shop I stumbled upon in the main street in Ramsey. It is a department store of home furnishings - though you may not realise by walking past.I thought it had a great range of accessories and as I was looking for a present for my Dad I was pleased to come across a range of nautical paraphernalia. What struck me most was the friendly service from the staff and the homely feel - I had a good natter, which in my book makes a great shopping experience!

Market Hall: Used Books in the Market

by christine.j

I could easily have spent a lot of time in the indoor market halls, as there were two used books stalls there, with lots of books to look through.Prices started from 50 p . Another stall was sellling used records and videos, yet another sold tea towels, aprons and scarves.

The Fairy Shop: Magic, Fairies and Flowers

by christine.j

An island which has both an official fairy bridge and a real fairy bridge also needs to have a fairy shop. It is located in the town centre, on Duke Street, you can't miss it as one look in the shop window will tell you all about the theme of this shop. Anything connected with fairies can be found there, small statues, jewellery, letters, paintings, poems etc. My husband had one short look into the window and decided to wait outside, by the way.But they also carry some other things, I bought two cans of flowers. After the can has been opened, it needs to be watered regularly and then -hopefully- some flowers grow out of it. So far I'm busily watering mine, but I cannot see any tiny green spot growing. I'll have to wait, I suppose.

Bridge Bookshop: Not just a book seller, but a book lover

by christine.j

In Port Erin I found this small book store. It was crowded inside, full of books, also some dvds, lots of books about the Isle of Man, language, history, landscape etc. A very nice atmosphere, I really liked it there and of course I couldn't leave without buying something. The lady running the store was helpful, not only with information about books but also with touristic tips.

Moore's Traditional Curers: Kippers and smoked bacon

by kit_mc

This being an island nation it'll come as no surprise that fish is fairly high on the list of purchases for foodies visiting the Isle of Man. For a taste of Manx cuisine try buying smoked kippers or the lovely smoked bacon from this factory in Peel, well known on the island since its establishment in 1882. Other tasty purchases include scallops and crab meat. You can also take tours of the factory which is quite worthwhile. Phone ahead to see if they are running one. The little shop is open at all odd hours of the day when the factory is busy smoking its goods. If you want a taste of the Isle of Man without visiting you can also order their stock online.

ManX

by canuckmike

The homemade alcohol on Isle of Man is ManX. It is a clear whiskey and it comes in a bottle as shown in the picture. If you look around in liquor stores on the island you should be able to find it fairly easily.

N/A: Peppercorn Cheese

Peppercorn cheese is a Manx speciality, you should be able to find it in any delicatessen or supermarket. It's delicious when melted over toast :-) ý2
