We got a ferry from Dublin Port straight to Douglas. The Steam Packet Company is the only firm who does this route (see URL). It's possible to fly Dublin - IoM but it's like €100 for a 20 min flight and it didnt seem worth it.
You dont need a passport from Ireland to IoM.

One of a few airlines offering flights from mainland UK to the IOM. A short flight from Blackpool for us on an 11 seater Metroliner, comfortable enough though.

The trip from Manchester UK to the Isle of Man was an experience, I had never been on a propeller powered plane before it was an experience

It is possible to hire taxi drivers for a couple of hours to show you around the Island. They don't cost too much and they give you a lot of insight into the country and its history!
