eat as the locals do?
No thanks - not for me at least. People from Abruzzo are fond of chili peppers... and the vicious green ones are those they prefer. Fortunately for the rest of the world, they don't put them in their food - but eat it aside, raw... especially with pasta. On the pasta, like everone else, they put their parmesan or grana padano cheese. A bit of pasta, a chunck of chili, some more pasta... some more chili... and so on and so forth.
