Bus from the airport to the center of Pescara

by shavy Updated Apr 8, 2015

Pescara Abruzzo airport has bus service to the center. The airport is located about 3 km from the centre. The journey takes about 5-10 minutes. Bus 38 and 8 runs frequently to Pescara center

There are only two bus service, it means when bus 38 leaves the 8 will arrive shortly, they constantly switch each other, this buses leave every 10-15 minute it takes no account of passenger, empty or not they leave on time

In the arrivals there is a ticket vending machine which is easy to use, select language and proceed to your ticket. Single ticket 1,10€ if you prefer not to use the machine, there is a ticket office where you can purchase the ticket just the opposite of rental car office. The ticket office also booked train ticket to long distance distination in Italy

Outside the terminal looked for sign where the bus stop. Timetable is available where the bus stands. The bus service start from 5:30am to 11:30pm

There is no train connection from the airport to the center but this bus can take you to train station in Pescara and from there you can travel further to your distination

The airport is very small, you can walk in 5 minutes from the runway to outside the terminal, there is only one claim luggage, if you only have carry-on you can get out qickly. If you miss the bus, wait for another 10 min.

    Car parking in Pescara Airport

by shavy Written Apr 8, 2015

There are parkings outside the terminal in an open air, but this is not free. For traveler wants to leave their car here is possible, prices are stated outside the vending machine. Driving inside the airport you will pass a barrier and you need to take a ticket when entering, otherwise the barrier wouldn't open. There are two different parkings for short term and long term, is well designated. Keep the ticket! if you lost it you can't exit

For rental car, you will send you to another exit. After paper works you will receive a pin code which need to used when you driving out. When returning the car you will have to drive thru on the same gate, there is no pin code anymore

There are a few vending machine inside and outside the terminals. The machine accept credit card if you have no cash. Once your parking ticket is validate and paid you have a few minutes to get out the airport. Is quite expensive the parking fees, if you only to dropped someone and stay no longer than 20 minute this is free, but once exceed to 20 min this will be charge for 2€

Rent a car at the airport in Pescara

by shavy Updated Apr 7, 2015

Renting a car in Pescara is the easiest way to get around, and there are many of them on the arrival. Reserve in advance is highly recommended online.

Check the price because there were so many rental cars in Pescara airport. We hire one from Auto - Europa which was the cheapest of all. We mostly booked by them for Italy and never have had any problem, always correct

These are people in the same planes, they are all mostly for Auto- Europe, I guess they all know the price. It was very crowded everyone wants to pick-up the car on the same time. Luckily we reserved in advance, paper work and so on takes time.

We have rented a car for a few days, as it is the best way to travel around the region. Just can't rely on public transport here, because they are not reliable and if there is it'll very slow. Besides, going to National park there are no buses up there, a car is your best mate

Returning the car after our trip, we have a flight at 3pm and we want to return the car key, wow, we don't know they are closed? But this is not the first time happen to us in Italy, I think it was the same company in Sardinia, we have to drop the key on the mailbox.

As long you don't have any car damage it would not a problem. You just have to be honest to them, otherwise they won't refund you. They hold a big amount from your credit card for car warranty until you return the car to the location of agreement, and expect to have your money back within 3 days after your trip, and if you don't receive the amount to your bank account at the certain period, it means they saw some damage or at least you are fully covered with insurance

Queue during car pick-up Closed in the afternoon Open in the evening when there are arrivals Return the car keys here in the mailbox

    Taxis outside the airport

by shavy Written Apr 7, 2015

Outside the terminal taxis are available, it would not be the cheapest way to get to the center, but for passengers are going for long distance this would be the easiest way. Easy to find them once you are outside the airport looked to your left side. As I mentioned the terminal is very small, you'll find everything immediately outside the terminal

I ask one of the taxi driver how much it cost to the center of Pescara, he said about 15-20€. It is quite expensive for 5-10 minute ride, while the bus cost only 1.10€

It is a metered taxi, you can normally ask to use his meter during the trip, and if he don't agree to use the meter ask the price before you take the taxi. Because if he used the meter it'll run to 15-20€ only

The taxis are super big, so they are expected a traveler with big suitcases, and the driver speak a little English

Pescara Airport the gateway to Abruzzo region

by shavy Written Apr 6, 2015

Pescara airport is a fairly small airport, Ryanair aircraft land and leave virtually on arrival and departure, a bit similar to Charleroi airport in Brussels. The Abruzzo Airport is located 10 km south of Pescara and the planes fly in over the city. If you've never been in Pescara, you can gain a good impression of the size of the city and its location with the mountains in the background.

The nice thing in this small airport, once you have landed, and no check-in luggage within 5 minutes you are directly outside the terminal

There are facilities inside the airport, such as currency exchange, ATM, car rental and etc. Pescara airport is fairly small and has a small duty free, and one cafe restaurant on the departure and arrival hall. Do not expect something on the duty free because this sale only magazine and some small stuff. No perfume, cigarette or apparel in this airport and no candies or chocolate. You must buy it outside before or after

Pescara airport is the only airport in the Abruzzo region, very modern building. We have been flying to many small airport in Italy and this is the first airport I've seen which has a unique exterior building. Even though is small but has all the facilities inside for passengers need. The airport consist one terminal and there is only one baggage claim.

Arrive at 8pm and I saw that the currency exchange was still open, so as the rental car offices. Probably they keep open till the last flight arrive. But the duty free were closed. Inside the terminal there is wireless internet, which was really nice, while waiting for flight. Inside the gate there is no duty free, so probably that's why wireless internet available inside, for passengers don't get bored. If you have an ipad or mobile phone with internet you can use here.

    Cheap and Efficient

by Applelyn Updated Mar 10, 2006

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

From TIBURTINA STATION, you can board the train to pescara or take the bus. Drop at Tiburtina Metro station, Right is train and Left is bus. Bus is only 15 EURO per trip and it is faster than train because train can't travel at high speed in the tunnel through the mountains. Taking the bus or train is still cheaper than car or taxi...and you can sleep on the bus. The bus ride is about 3hrs...
