ulissi Says: Just north of Teramo is the fortress town of Civitella del Tronto. It is on the border of Abruzzo and the Marche (which at one time belonged to the Papal States). It is humongous and well worth the visit. You will be impressed!!

ulissi Says: Obviously a bit late on this but the best wine in Abruzzo (called DOC or DOCG) comes from the area in and around Controguerra. One famous producer is the Pepe Vineyards from the town of Torano Nuovo.

stefanaccio Says: Great food at a great price. You can eat well for about 15 euros. Located in Frondarola on the outskirts of Teramo. Everything was good. They don't really have a menu. Just go hungry and they will feed you well.

One of the larger towns in the Abruzzo region full of interesting shops and friendly people.

I visit the town of Teramo at least two times per year. I have built a small house in one of the frazioni (suburbs) of this town. Can provide information on the area if anyone is planning a visit.
