This gelateria is very popular during Sunday afternoon's, couple, groups of friends, family groups all took occupancy in the downstairs seating area (the upstairs area/terrace being closed due to a private party).
It offers a good range of snacks, light meals as well as ice creams and other desserts. Great towering bowls of ice cream, cream and syrups pass as you sit perusing the menu. The menu, only available in Italian, has such a selection of items that you might end up making your choice, simply based on the item 'sounding good' (which is what I did).
Favorite Dish: I ordered the 'hotcake' - item 27 on the menu - which comprised of a small warm chocolate muffin served with a small serving of hot custard and a small serving of whipped cream and vanilla ice cream with a chocolate stick - all of which were delicious.
Suvanki ordered a hot chocolate which was served with some small biscuits.
We both thoroughly enjoyed our selections.
Gelateria Franca has a second location in Albino as well as an outlet in Leffe.

After visiting Santuario Madonna de Pianto, we came across this Gelateria, and realised that it would be rude to pass by without trying an ice cream at least!
Well it seemed like all of Albino had had the same idea - the place was buzzing with family groups, couples, groups of friends of all ages.
Grabbing a comfortable seat, we were soon in danger of getting neck ache from gawping at the trays of cream laden ice creams and gateaux etc, being carried to the eager diners!
Our friendly waiter arrived, and asked if we could move to another table for two. A good spot for 'people watching'
The extensive menu offered all kinds of ice creams, many with fresh fruit and cream, pastries and gateaux, crepes, sandwiches, hot and cold drinks.
Gilly opted for the mysteriously named 'Hot Cake', while I eventually decided against an ice cream and chose a mug of hot Italian chocolate with lemon and pine nuts. (pic 2)
My chocolate was deliciously rich and silky smooth, and was accompanied by a few light buttery biscuits.
Franca has another shop in Albino, and one in Leffe. All ice creams are home made and flavoured with seasonal ingredients.
Waiting to pay our bill, I had chance to check out the confectionary counter, which was crammed with delicious looking chocolates and Easter goodies. 'Luckily' I was running out of Euros, so didn't purchase any more calories!
Worth a visit for the quality food and drink, as well as a chance to see a typical Sunday afternoon in Albino.
