Market Day in Atina is Monday, when farmers flock from the surrounding countryside with their fresh produce and gastronomic delights. There is a wonderful variety of seasonal fruit and vegetables, and also a selection of local cheeses such as Pecorino, Caciocavallo, local salamis, prosciutto, and of course olives.

Atina is well worth taking a stroll round. Ancient walls and wonderful little backstreets.
Stop on the Piazza Marconi for coffee and cornetti with the locals. Although this town is off the beaten track, dont be surprised to hear foreigners. We sat in the little bar on the Piazza and found ourselves on the next table to an American couple who were tracing their family roots.

The parish church sits behind the castle and is dedicated to the town's patron saint St.Mark.
It is open to the public but try to avoid visiting on Sundays, unless it is for worship.
Keep in mind that ladies must cover their shoulders.

In August there is the Notte Bianca.
This phenomena was initiated in the larger cities of Rome and Naples, but is replicated in many other towns in Italy and now even in Europe.
It is a night of celebration, music, culture and food, when no-one sleeps as revelers party all night long.
