Secondly, the residence garden itself. Many names have been called of this strange place.
Bosco Sacro, a Sacred Grove or Bosco dei Monstri, the Monsters' grove but today it is known as The Monsters Park.
It was an un-finished Renaissance garden & was neglected for almost 300 years.
When it was rediscovered early 20th century, it was overgrown with trees, everything was half collapsed; It was then called The Sleeping Garden of Bomarzo.
Bomarzo is a small town located near Viterbo, north of Rome.
First reason to go to Bomarzo. To see the Castle looming on top of the hill.
The Castle was belong to the Orsini family. The Orsini family lived in this castle in the 16th century & after the wife, Julia Farnese died, Vicino Orsini started to draft the plan for a residence garden to woe his lost love over his wife.
While at the same time, enjoying the scenery around Bomarzo. Amazing !
My trip had been a successful one ! I am pround saying that. No tourists like me around, just family-type visitors who came here to enjoy the beautiful sceneries & the Parco dei Mostri.
Be there !
Yep ! Found my bus & again amazing rural Italian sceneries all the way...
Bomarzo is a small town. Hardly anybody was there when i reached there. Just this woman in front of me going somewhere. Behind me a family from Venice, I had the time to ask.
See the travel page.
A park with unusual sculpures.Built in the 16th century by Prince Orsini (1528-1588). The architect was Pirro Ligorio.

A house in Bomarzo. Can imagine myself living here than in Rome !
Please scroll down below to go to the Entrance of The Monsters Park.
All the photos are in chronological order as I walked the park & clicking my camera.
First, a serpent with a naked woman's body.
Back on top of the hill, the Bomarzo town & waited for the bus to take me back to Viterbo. Waited for more than 1 hour, maybe 2.
These urns are erected in one area maybe this was where the wines & entertainment were served ? Maybe...
Pass through this entrance gate & be enthralled with medieval animals & creatures that roamed this earth before VT exist !
I would call these buildings as the apartment houses in Bomarzo. Truly Italian but I could still see these 'apartment houses' in Malaysia.
Some houses on the hill slope. Wouldn't it be nice to live here ? No night life ? I could create my own night life here . Hhmm...
Came to the edge of town...amazing scenery ! So hilly. So green. Had to walk down the hill to the Monster Park.
More houses in Bomarzo. A woman came out from her house, maybe to check if anybody sending her a mail. I walked on...
Next few photos are some rural scenes in Bomarzo. Quiet town...hardly anybody. A boy pushing his bike, ignoring me. I was getting nearer the Monter Park !
