History, Part One, Bressanone

christine.j Says:  Bressanone/Brixen is the oldest town in the area,South Tirol, and it used to be Bishop's town. So there are beautiful churches to be seen, especially the cathedral right in the center of the town.

Swimming

Swimming, Bressanone

christine.j Says:  There is a large swimming center in Bressanone/Brixen, in which you can swim, use the sauna, get wellness treatment. When I was there, their parking lot was so overcrowded on a normal weekday, one hour after opening time, that they needed assistants to direct the parking. I...

Gastof Restaurant Haller: Tasty sudtirol food, Bressanone

jessicadf Says:  Our friends took us here for a dinner of typical local food... and it was a good choice! An antipasti plate of local cured meats and cheese (the speck in this area is the best I've had anywhere), wine (white) soup, and a plate of assorted starches: Knudel, spinach filled...

Trattoria Fink: Delicious restaurant in downtown Bolzano, Bressanone

jessicadf Says:  The food, beer, wine and service were absolutely terrific. Our friend owns the restaurant (Andreas Fink) and made sure we had a delicious and lively evening. He'd put a silly reserved sign on our table, and special notes in the menus for the men. When all was said and done,...

Transportation

Walking

Walking, Bressanone

christine.j Says:  For exploring Bressanone/Brixen it's best to walk. The old part is off-limits to cars anyway. Many alleys are really narrow, everything is close , so walking is your best choice.

Any Panificio- Backerei

What to buy: Well- I am Italian and I love pizza pasta and bread... (and what about the mandolino :)..). Bread that you can buy here is very different from the Italian, they cover it with different tipe of seeds. They also make a wonderful type of black bread with variants like nuts and honey ...delicious !
I also reccomend Strudel and home-made marmelades.

Don' t go in a restaurant too late, Bressanone

Claudilla Says:  This is a tip for those, like me, who forget to look at the clock. Maybe it can happen quite often while you're on holiday... anyway in Bressanone, and SudTirol in general, you can't hope to find a Restaurant's kitchen open after 22. They simply close and offer you what they...
