Pentatillo is a ruin town near Reggio di Calabria. It must be really off the beaten path because I haven't found neither a webpage nor a book about this place. This town is erected between 5 mounts (penta = 5) which look like five fingers. There is no real road to this town, just a small stony path. Up there you find a lot of dilapidate houses. We found there several newspapers of the 1940s but also a few from the 1970s. We were told that around 1970 an earthquake caused the collapse of numerous houses there. The inhabitants build a new Pentatillo near this place.

Scilla! Idyllic fishing town with good seaside restaurants pizzarie etc. Ancient castle stands on a cliff overhead - there's a legend attached... can't remember which one but it's in one of Homer's works, I think. Just to peak your interests ;)
Find out when the local market day is...most Italian towns have a market day a week. Your mouth starts to water as you meander through the food sections as you can imagine from this tempting picture...Chili peppers (peperoncini) are a staple of southern Italian food. Buon Appetito!
